"Prada Marfa" is located in the desert near Marfa, Texas on an otherwise desolate stretch of highway 90. Behind the glass, a selection of shoes and bags, presumably more expensive than the structure itself, have sat untouched since 2005. The store was created by two Berlin artists as an art installation made from 100% biodegradable materials. After the looters and vandalizers have finished tearing it apart, prada Marfa will disintegrate into the earth. Prada Marfa has quickly become the most talked about sculpture of the 20th century despite it's remote location. What's the point? The artists want to simply play with the minds of the public. One onlooker refers to the "sculpture" as a cruel mirage because she waited hours for it to open before realizing that Prada Marfa was not going to open for buisess then, or ever.
